The sun beat down, its rays magnifying the oppressive heat that enveloped me as I trudged down the hill. My mouth was parched; as dry as the dusty trail underfoot. The inside of my throat felt like sandpaper, every swallow a futile attempt to moisten it. Oh, how I longed for a drink. The absence of shops on this desolate path only intensified my craving. My tongue felt swollen, sticking to the roof of my mouth in protest.
And then, finally, as the hill sloped downwards and gave way to civilisation, I spotted salvation—a garage with a small shop attached. I quickened my pace, almost running in my desperation to quench my thirst. The door jingled as I entered, the cool air a welcome relief from the sweltering heat outside.
I made a beeline for the refrigerated section and grabbed a can of Dash, the sparkling water with music. The hiss of the can opening was music to my ears, a symphony that promised respite from my thirst. I watched as the bubbles danced to the surface, the liquid sparkling in the fluorescent light of the shop.
Lifting the can to my lips, I tipped it back and let the cool, fizzy liquid flood my mouth. Ah, the sweet hint of raspberry mixed with the carbonated water was bliss. The bubbles tickled my tongue as the liquid flowed down my throat, providing much-needed relief. My mouth was no longer a desert but an oasis of flavour and hydration. The scratchiness in my throat dissipated, replaced by a soothing coolness. With every sip I felt more and more revitalised, the fog of thirst lifting from my brain. The world seemed brighter, the burden of my walk lighter. I savoured the moment, grateful for the simple pleasure of a cold drink on a hot day.

Sparkling water with a dash of barley and hops is another good choice on a hot afternoon. Just sayin’.

Oh, you’d fit in around these parts, Roger. Straight out of the mouth of a would-be publican!

I am enjoying your Inktober post, but this one made me very thirsty. So, I kiked back to the Frig to get a cold glass of sweet tea. Alas, I was out of tea, so I opted for a cold beer. It worked.

Hello John.
Thank you!
I’d always go for the beer over sweet tea. I think you chose wisely!
Happy to oblige!

Sparkle adds refreshment and refuge within your body to separate itself from a less pleasant environment. Unlike your other commenters, I have not made the trek to the refrigerator for cold deliciousness (yet). The mere anticipation builds though.

Sparkle is supposed to be good for you, LL, bringing oxygen into your system. As you can see, I buy into any old nonsense.
I like to cause a reaction.

mah dahlin I first saw this can as DA SHIT Water, this water is the shit, it’s refreshing like Dasani, but not like Evian which is just Naive spelled backwards. it’s 7 Up but WITH caffeine!!!
yeah I’ve had one of those days, 100 sweltering degrees beating down on my neck, I’m lost walking in every direction, I finally happen upon a gas station but all they had was year-old sushi and hard lemonade.
last night was THE night, the night the temperature dropped 20 degrees, I love it, I LOVE the cold!!! Day of the Drop at night which makes the day 20 degrees…
nothing worse than being PARCHED.

I don’t think Dash would be too happy with that unless that was their angle? What do I know, I just drink the stuff. I think it’s the wonky raspberries that hook me in.
I hate those days unless I’m laying still by or in the sea.
That happened here. Clocks go back tonight and the BRRRRSKI begins. I think mid-November is when it really gets to me.
Well, PARCHED backwards is Deh Crap. *)

Whenever I’m cold I always say, “Brrrski” I say it out loud to people and they don’t know shat I’m on about. However, people who hang around me a lot also say it now – one day it will be a real word!
I should have my very own lexicon and wordy book. *)
