Despite my notoriety as a world renowned Art Philosopher, it appears I do not possess enough duende to enter the special places.
I tried in earnest to enter Camp Wisdom but it appears I still have a lot to learn.
“Go here instead”, they said.
Granbury, Texas. It’s in Hood County so I thought I’d be right at home but I couldn’t find Robin anywhere.
Gaol….
The people in this little town were overwhelmed by a visit from an English chick, gazing in awe at me every time I opened my mouth. Not that I’m unused to that but it’s usually for very different reasons.
Yeah, sod you Camp Wisdom, I’ve found my hood. Sing about that!
And by the way, have you ever seen such gorgeous garage doors? No.
Texas in the evening is a serenade of the south. As the sun sets in the vast sky the birds chatter, cicadas clatter, tree frogs sing and crickets ring.
A vibrant hum of nature by night permeates the warm air and eases away the day. It is the most beautiful sound in the world.

I have to say I love that sound, and it’s even better when the AC’s working. #porchlife

I’m sitting outside on my patio this evening, LSP (#patiolife) and what can I hear? Nuffin’. Bar the distant hum of traffic. There’s no critters, no savage, flesh-eating mozzies, no copperheads, no rattlesnakes, no vicious birds pecking cats eyes out, no squirrel wars or coyotes; no giant hornets or manic red ants or shady black widows. The most I have here are a couple of moths. How boring.

Is every place in Texas restored? I like the jiffy john outside that stone whatever it is.
Must be hot down there in the desert . . .

JL, no, not at all. There are many lost towns and some about to shut down, sadly. I quite fancy buying one and turning it into a “badlands” what do you think? Good idea, right?!
I got very cross in Granbury because they were doing tons of roadworks and there were cones and ropes everywhere. Trying to get decent pics of the place had me in all sorts of positions, hence the quality portable loo in bright orange just in case you missed it! That place was the jail. You think they’d have toilets inside but then again, times were tough back in the day and you were probably urinating into your own moonshine.
It’s hotter than Hell and then some.

I looked to buy a home in Granbury when I was considering relocating to TX for work. There are some lovely homes down along the Brazos and the lake. It’s a nice town and an easy drive to Ft. Worth.

For starters, Larry, I’d like you to remember that I changed the name of Ft. Worth to ‘Fort What It’s Worth’ way back last year and I’d like you to refer to it as such from now on. It might catch on.
Great place to live for the fact you are in the country and yet have easy access to the big cities. However, I’m looking for a town of my own to take over which will have a White Wolf Ranch, Clown Church, Madness in the music hall and a bloodthirsty, nefarious saloon. I’m just trying to think of an appropriate name….. 😉

Hiram B Granberry! I don’t blame him for changing the spelling of his name, because who wants to be a berry? If you find a living man called ‘Hiram J Pipesucker’ I will kiss your feet, Jules. 🙂

Well, Mary Berry seems to like it, Mr. Gorilla Bananas but then she is all about fruit cakes.
On the search for a pipesucker….:)

I have to wonder if the people in that town ever met someone from England? They’ve heard the King’s English spoken on TV but have they ever experienced those sweet sounds in real life?
Had to right-click-lookup duende. You learn stuff here.

The folks I met clearly hadn’t. I felt like a bizarre animal in a zoo. I’m surprised they didn’t start poking me with sticks.
This is the place to learn all the things you never need to know about, M. 🙂

Woody Woodpecker laughed crazily a lot cos he was in deep pain over his wood pecker.

Thank you, my sweet. However, now I’m the new Doctor I should be able to find a back door into Camp Wisdom! Maybe some oil would help from the magic garage. I must tell Woody and his pecker about that, or maybe he should kiss a tree frog?
